Second Grade

 

What will your child learn in music class this year?

 

In second grade, we continue our learning of the staff and simple rhythms. This year, we will learn about sixteenth notes! We will be creating our own music with the concepts we know... we will be composers! We'll get to learn some of Mrs. Saldaña's favorite folk dances such as "Chimes of Dunkirk" and "Turkey in the Straw". They are a lot of fun to listen and dance to in music. In the spring, we will learn about the instruments of the orchestra through the story "Peter and the Wolf."
